NSWC to meet Gov. today

Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC), led by its chairperson Sano Vamuzo, is scheduled to meet state governor Nikhil Kumar over various issues including 33% women reservations in various civic bodies July 6. Talking to Nagaland Post, the commission member Abeni T C K said NSWC members would be meeting governor over various issues including the deadline served by various apex women organizations earlier.
It may be mentioned that various Naga women organizations, which had constituted a five-member action committee on women reservation had filed a PIL on 33 % Women reservation in Gauhati High Court.
The court had admitted the case and had fixed for the final hearing of the case on July 15 next.
NWHD demands
Naga Women Hoho, Dimapur (NWHD) has demanded immediate implementation of 33% reservation of seats for women in municipalities. A statement issued by NWHD president Hukheli T. Wotsa and general secretary Liangsi Niumai John said entire tribe units affiliated to NHWD reiterated and stood firm with their demand.The hoho said delay in holding municipal election has created negative impact to the nation and state in particular. The hoho asserted that implementation of 33% reservation of women seat in civic bodies would be “a real litmus test of democracy within our state.”
“Depriving women to exercise their Fundamental Rights would be unethical in today’s modern society,” the NWHD stated.
