The department of land resource development Dimapur on Wednesday distributed short rubber stump to the farmers at the office of district project officer.
According to district project officer, department of land resource, Hekato N. Yeptho, the programme was conducted to ensure that efficient yield in rubber production was achieved in the district.
He emphasized on proper management of rubber stump nurseries and importance of rubber cultivation in Dimapur.
‘Proper care and handling of rubber stumps’, ‘survival rate of rubber stumps’ in nurseries were some of the topics highlighted.
The rubber stump distribution programme was attended by farmers from various villages under Dimapur.
Later, free rubber stumps and polybags were distributed to the farmers and leaflets on basic management of secondary for easy reference were handed out to each farmer.
It may be mentioned that the department of land resource development distributed free rubber stumps under its project which is sponsored by the state i.e, rural infrastructure development fund (RIDF) and integrated watershed management programme (IWMP) a centrally sponsored scheme.
