Nagaland chief secretary, Lalthara (IAS) Friday said excellence would be realized only when an individual achieves his/her dreams.
“Excellence would be realized when we reach our full potential”, said the chief secretary while addressing the 17th freshers meet-cum-cultural show of Sakus Mission College at its new campus at Landmark colony, Dimapur.
Lalthara said students must start preparing for their career during high school years in order to achieve their goal. For this, he urged the students to work hard with determination in order achieve their goal and become successful.
While pointing out that a students’ life was precious as it distinguishes their future, he reminded them not to waste time carelessly.
“Any spare time is time wasted” he added.
Meanwhile, expressing his concern over the prevailing divisions among various unions/organizations in the Naga society, he called upon the students to take the platform and bridge the division in the society.
“So long as unity prevails at the grass root level, the top levels would be united”, the chief secretary said.
In conclusion, he called upon the students, considered as leaders of tomorrow, to change their mindset and spread unity to higher levels.
Principal of the college, Arenla while welcoming the freshers urged them to visualize and set their goal instead of wasting their time depending on their tutors.
Stating that whatever they received at the college would guide them all through their life, she called on the students to give due attention in whatever they do.
Former NSF general secretary, Wati Jamir in his brief speech considered those students present at the function “lucky” as they would be receiving the best available opportunity.
“Many students did not get the same opportunity, but you are lucky to be given the best opportunity”, he said and urged the students not to let their dreams be carried away by leisure.
Earlier, chairman of the college, Er. Saku welcomed the gathering. Speech on behalf of the freshers was delivered by Temjennichet.
The keynote address was delivered by Ruokuoseto Ngulie general secretary SMCSU while Sachoiba Inkah chaired the function.
