Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) has “outrightly” condemned the alleged attempts of Jalukielo village to encroach upon Ghowoto village land and also “silence” of the government on the issue.
In a statement, WSKH president Apeto Assumi alleged that people from Jalukielo village have been continuously trying to occupy land belonging to Ghowoto and because of which there have been unrest in the area. The hoho said as a result, the administration has deployed IRB personnel in the area as a neutral force to maintain stability in the area.
“But surprisingly, right under the nose of IRB personnel stationed in the area, armed Jalukielo villagers are entering into the land of Ghowoto villager at their own will and creating problem,” the WSKH claimed. Stating that at this juncture, how could one expect the Ghowoto villagers to remain silent when someone is forcefully trying to grab their land?
It further alleged that administration and police, instead of defusing the situation and bring normalcy in the area, were being partial and one sided on the issue. Further, the WSKH urged the government to deliver justice, which otherwise Ghowoto villagers would have no alternative but to take own measures to safeguard the right of the village.
