Sainudeen Sainalabudeen, former all India president of the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), was arrested on Saturday as he flew in at the international airport here from Dubai. He was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police who had issued a look-out notice for him.
“There were intelligence inputs that he is coming to Kochi and the officials of anti-terror squad of Madhya Pradesh police had arrived here to nab him when he flew in,” the immigration SP, Bhuvana Chandran, at Kochi airport told TOI here.
He was produced at the Aluva court and later taken by Madhya Pradesh police to Indore for detailed questioning. A woman and man who had accompanied Sainudeen were let off after interrogation. Sainudeen (40) hails from Andhra Pradesh and he had arrived here from Dubai on his way to Hyderabad. He was reportedly staying in Dubai after SIMI was banned couple of years back.
There were several cases pending against him and he had spent some time in jail in connection with one of those cases.
