Border Peace Coordination Committee (Assam-Nagaland) in a goodwill visit met DC and SP of Sivasagar on Friday and exchanged views on Assam Nagaland border. The team also visited Yonglok village (under Longleng district), Anakiyimsen and Anaki-C villages (under Mokokchung district) and interacted with villagers for furthering peace process with the neighbouring people of Assam.
Shingnyu Phom, Council Chairman of the village emphasized on the immediate action to be taken by the Assam Government on encroachers on traditional Jhum land from across the trans border.
The officials from Assam had taken the allegation put forwarded by Yonglok villagers and assured positive action on the illegal encroachers from Assam. A public interaction was also held at Singibeel a small township near Geleki where representatives from villages were present. Nazira Border Magistrate Richand Ahmed presided the meet where Er.Temsu Wathi, Coordinator of BPCC(A-N) had given the keynote address. All speakers unanimously voiced for constituting a BPCC (A-N) sub-committee for Geleki-Yonglok-Anaki area comprising representative from both Assam and Nagaland side.
SDO(C) -cum-border magistrate of Tuli Shri Chubatemjen, Nazira Border Magistrate Richand Ahmed and ACF of Sivasagar Ratneswar Pathak had accompanied BPCC (A-N) team to this location.
The goodwill tour towards peace building mission, BPCC(A-N) was led by its President B.P. Bora, Vice President Imsu Jamir, Secretary designate B. Atuba Imchen, Executive members Amal Mili, Phuleswar Gogoi, Dipak Tanti, N. Likok Pongen and Er. Temsu Wathi the Coordinator for Assam & Nagaland.
