Seyochung Area Students Union (SASU) on their one day visit to GHS Seyochung was stunned to learn that the Government High School (GHS) Seyochung had been running with no headmaster/ assistant headmaster for the past 4-5 years.
It was also observed that the school had only three G/teachers and no computer instructor and the school building on the verge of collapsing. A press statement issued by Lipise Sangtam, vice president SASU and T. Ripise, education and statistics secretary USSC said Seyochung town being one of the oldest SDO (C) headquarter under Kiphire district and located at the most remotest part of the state had been dispossessed socially, economically and politically for many years and expressed grief at the ill-treatment meted on this area especially in the educational sector.
Lamenting on poor administration and shortage of teachers at GHS Seyochung, the union said the students were the main victims and the indication being the recently declared HSLC result where GHS Seyochung obtained “nil result”. SASU stated that the appeal for good school administration and teachers to the department in-charge for many years had not been heard or answered. Keeping in mind the welfare of the students’ community, SASU appealed to authority in-charge to appoint a headmaster and at least 3 more G/T for GHS Seyochung at the earliest.
