AR organises workshop on learning disability

Members of 5 Sector Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association attending a workshop on learning disability at Chieswema Garrison.

A workshop on learning disability was organized by 5 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) at Chieswema Garrison. The workshop for the benefit of families was organized by 5 Sector Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association.
P Ghanekar, Principal KV CRPF, Kohima, N Seithogei, Principal Kohima Orphanages School, Michael J Pastor and Capt Vishal Raut, medical officer spoke at the workshop.
The event was presided by R Vennela, President 5 Sector ARWWA. President ARWWA in her address highlighted the need to identify the problem by observing various indicators of disability amongst children, methodology and role of teachers and parents in handling the situation, as also benefits offered by various state govt. The existence of Learning Disability in the environment is a reality and has to be addressed maturely, said the president.
During the workshop it was emphasized that awareness about the subject of learning disability among the teachers and parents was low.
It was brought out by the eminent speakers that learning disability in children could be identified at an early stage and well managed.
The various methods of identifying and tackling learning disability were discussed followed by a question and answer session where the participants showed keen interest to know more about disability.
The workshop was attended by about 100 families from Chieswema, Kohima and Ghaspani. The workshop has helped in creating awareness on the issue of learning disability among the families and will go a long way in better management of the disability which at times goes unnoticed.
