A statement issued by the office of the chairman, Konyak Region NSCN/GPRN(Khaplang) Region Head Quarter Eastern Nagaland, Myanmar, disclosed that the Konyak Region NSCN/GPRN, after a marathon discussion on the present crisis, decided to extend all out support to the “undisputed leadership of S.S Khaplang, the chairman NSCN/GPRN”.
The meeting was participated by host of senior and active party members of the region, present collective leadership of the regional authority and Raja Piyus of nine (9) ranges.
Toklang Konyak, Chairman Konyak Region, described the meeting as “a historic one and turning point” saying it strengthened the position of SS Khaplang as “undisputed leader of the Nagas”.
In his speech, Toklang Konyak, advised all workers under Konyak region to remain firm and distinguish between real leader and “situation-created leader”. According to him, the former was “God anointed one”, while the later was “man portrayed and doubtful one”.
Toklang further urged all the national workers under NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) that, such crisis was an opportunity for the people to choose real leader. He however said no violence should envelope the transitional period. He urged all the regional authority in Naga country to follow the clean decision of the Konyak Region.
“We are one people under one Nation and hence, we need only one rightful leader to lead us in the right decision”, he said.
Meanwhile, according to a national daily, days after the Khaplang faction of the NSCN split ‘finance kilonser’, Kughalu Mulatonu, joined the Khapalang’s group.
Mulatonu joins Khapalang
Mulatonu left the Kehoi camp, located near Dimapur, with at least two other leaders, sources said. The leader of the GPRN/NSCN, ‘ato kilonser’ Kitovi Zhimomi, said he was fed up of bloodshed. “This is politics,” he said, responding to Mulatonu’s decision.
“I don’t want bloodshed, Khaplang wants it,” he told The Telegraph from Dimapur.
Recalling his September 18 meeting with Th. Muivah, he said the NSCN (I-M) general secretary also wanted reconciliation. “People want reconciliation under the aegis of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation,” he said.
While Muivah’s decision is not known, it is clear that Mulatonu will pose a fresh challenge not only to his relative, Kitovi, but also to security forces.
The calculus of a split outfit on the nationalistic lines is again distorted, the national daily reported.
