With reference to Nagaland University notification on introduction of semester system, the Nagaland college principals’ forum (NCPF) had an executive meeting held June 18 last, deliberated point by point basis and decided to apprise the university on certain issues.
While welcoming the initiative taken by University, the forum said it wished to see that all guidelines/handbook containing syllabi were completed on time to ensure smooth introduction of semester system at undergraduate level by 2012 academic session.
“Since admission to first semester for B.A, B.Com, B Sc. 1st year is likely to start in May, all necessary details must be completed latest by April 2012,” the NCPF stated.
The forum observed that proposal for “draft models” at respective college principals level on introduction of semester system may not be a fruitful exercise at college level at this stage when board of under graduate studies (BUGS) were fully in-charge of syllabi and other related details for introduction of semester system.
“In other words, draft models from 55 individual Colleges may not be a worthy exercise for the BUGS to go through,” the forum president Dr. P. S. Lorin and secretary Dr. Vituo Belhou said in a letter to NU dean, school of social sciences Prof. A. Lanunungsang.
Asserting that it was the prerogative of BUGS to prepare syllabi, the forum, however, said its guidelines or handbook, syllabi, and other details be made available to principals for feedbacks or suggestions.
