4 held with arms

Four persons were apprehended by police and security forces, in two separate incidents last week, on charges of possessing illegal arms, police said. Dimapur police and IRB personnel on June 24 apprehended two persons identified as “lieut.” Mughavi Zhimo of NNC, son of late Viheshe Zhimo of Satakha and Tovishe Yeptho, son of Avito Yeptho of Ngozubo village, from Railway bazaar area. One 7.65 mm pistol along with five live rounds in the magazine, one demand note for “financial assistance” issue in the name of NNC were recovered from their possession, police said.
Meanwhile, 24 Assam Rifles personnel June 25 apprehended two persons from Ghorapatti area during routine MVCP and two .22 pistol, three .22 live ammo with magazines; one 7.65 pistol with two magazines; 250 grams supposedly heroin; four counterfeit note of Rs. 500 denomination; tax receipts of chaplee affairs and tax receipts of “government of people’s republic of Nagalim, ministry of kilo.”
Extortionists held
DIMAPUR: Acting on a tip-off, Dimapur police arrested two persons on charges of extortion from shops located at Duncan basti, Dimapur. Police recovered five tax receipts of “GPRN, ministry of kilo affairs and cash `2000 from the duo identified as-- Ponathung Lotha, son of Nrio and Tseromo Lotha, son of Mhosheo, both of Longidang village. A case of extortion has been registered, police said.
