Condemning the alleged acts of land encroachment and assault on Hazadisa villagers by some “vested individuals of Khekiho village” on June12 and 17 last, the minority forum of 3 Dimapur III A/C has appeal to both the village councils to respect their territory and also to check vested individuals who tried to create division among the two neighbouring villages and disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the villages.
The forum, in a joint release issued by its president Apun Naben and information & publicity secretary Zakir Hussain suggested that two village councils solve any misunderstandings through proper dialogue.
It also urged the state government and its agencies to properly demarcate the land/boundary of two villages so as to avoid re-occurrence of such incidents in future.
Further, the forum appealed to the state government to compensate the affected villagers and also protect the rights of minorities.
It demanded that department responsible immediately arrest those individuals responsible for disturbing the peaceful atmosphere of the two villages.
Expressing hope that such “land encroachment” and other incidents would cease to occur in other minority villages, the forum, on behalf of all minorities, requested all the Nagas to support and respect the rights of minority people.
