Bharti Infratel Limited, one of the world’s largest telecom passive infrastructure service provider, that deploys, owns and manages telecom towers and communication structures across the country has extended helping hand to Network of Mokokchung People Living with HIV and AIDS (NMP+) in the fight against HIV and AIDS disease and treatment of those people living with the disease without giving any discrimination in the district.
Sponsored by Bharti Infratel Ltd, a sensitization programme on HIV and AIDS was organized by NMP+ at Ungma Baptist Church on June 26 where people young and old attended the programme.
Human Resource and Administration Head, North East States and Assam Banajit Ojah, said, the company besides its main business renders service to child education in the country. However considering the gravity of the HIV and AIDS situation in Mokokchung district the company decided to extend its financial help to NGOs engaged in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
He said the company would work with NMP+ for two years to prevent the spread of the disease adding the company would extend financial help to NMP+ to organize sensitization programme on HIV and AIDS covering all villages in the district.
The NMP+ was formed in 2008 and have been tirelessly working since then to prevent the spread of the disease and to reduce impact of stigma and discrimination against those positive people.
NMP+ President Toshi Sangpi, addressing the programme gave a clarion call to participants to stop discrimination against those infected with HIV.
Dr. Amenla from Anti Retroviral Treatment Centre Mokokchung spoke on HIV and AIDS at the programme.
