School boy killed by lightning strike
DIMAPUR: A student of standard 9 was killed after he was struck by lightening while playing football with his friends in Longleng June 26 last. The incident occurred when the deceased identified as Hamchai Phom, son of Wanaü Phom of Pongo village, Longleng district, and some students of Jawahar Nehru Vidyalaya, Tangtta village, Longleng were playing football after Sunday service, DIPR report stated. The lightning struck him by tearing his T-shirt and made him unconscious, the report said. Immediately, the Jawahar Nehru Vidyalaya authority rushed him to district hospital Longleng but he succumbed to injuries on the way.
AR apprehend NSCN-IM cadre
Correspondent Kohima, June 28(NPN): Assam Rifle personnel reportedly apprehended an NSCN-IM cadre and recovered a country-made. 38 Revolver along with three live rounds of ammunition during MVCP near Kohima Bye Pass road today. Basing on specific information about the movement of some cadres, AR personnel reportedly conducted MVCP and arrested the NSCN-IM cadre identified as Pvt Kezengulie hailing from Chiechama village while travelling towards Dimapur. Later the apprehended cadre was handed over to North Police Station where case has been registered.

DIMAPUR: Flight AI 9702 (CCU/DMU) for June 29 has been combined with AI 709. CTC revises pork rate: Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) has revised the rate of pork (cut meat both supply and local) to Rs.130/kg. Water supply consumers inform: Executive Engineer PHE, Urban division Dimapur, T. Imtiakum has informed all water supply consumers under Dimapur and Chumukedima area that the PHE water supply main line has been damaged due to heavy landslide. Imtiakum said the damage has caused complete stoppage of water supply which may take time to restore it to normal. Consumers have been requested to bear with the inconvenience.
