‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’

Tizit: Turning Point Organization, DIC Tizit observed the ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ on June 26 with the theme, “Think health, not drug”. EAC Tizit urged the gathering to go hand in hand to stop such illegal trafficking and drug abuse within the society. Resource person Dr. GK Sharma PHC Tizit said drug users have become a great challenge for the state and the country as a whole. He also said that drugs/alcohol has increased the rate of HIV and AIDS in the society especially college and schools.
DEF DIMAPUR : ‘International Day of drug abuse and illicit trafficking’ was observed at DEF Dimapur on June 26 at the conference hall of SP office Dimapur. Dr. Akro Kezo, a psychiatrist from civil hospital, Dimapur spoke on the theme ‘Think health-not drugs’ and enlightened the gathering about the medicine and drug addiction and dependency on psychotropic drugs which have become a global drug problem. Limathung a recovered drug user and a member of CAD Foundation Dimapur also spoke at the proramme Shouka Kakheto SDPO, Dimapur presented a scenario of the state and the district on illicit trafficking and the measures taken by the law enforcing agents in drug prohibition laws. Closing remark was proposed by Watichuchang Jamir additional superintendent of police, Dimapur who spoke on menace of illicit drugs and drug abuse.
