Seminar on piggery at Aliba village
DIMAPUR: Ongpangkong South ATMA, Mokokchung conducted a one day seminar on piggery management and swine fever awareness at Aliba village on June 17. Resource person Dr. Tiachuba VAS emphasized mainly on nutrient and feeding management, vaccination, quarantine and avoidances of inbreeding depression. During the discussion hour, most of the participants inquired about swine fever which had recently caused high mortality rate in the block. Further, Dr. Meyiakum Jamir, SMS ATMA, Mokokchung conducted demonstration on health management in swine as well as on administration of different medicines in the treatment of disease. Altogether 31 farmers from three villages attended the programme and different medicines and mineral mixtures commonly used in swine were distributed to all the participants.
VBS camp for students in Wokha
DIMAPUR: ENPUF Church, Wokha conducted a VBS camp for students attending Sunday school under the theme ‘growing in the knowledge of God’ (col. 1:10) from June 23 to 26. The theme speaker was Shaying Shue EAC Sadar I/c Sungro and the program was chaired by P.Y John VBS director. Speaking at the occasion, the speaker applauded parents who encouraged their children to attend the VBS camp and said the Church itself was one of the most important institution in shaping the personality of an individual and in the long run, those actively involved in church activities would be successful in life. The speaker also encouraged the campers to adapt themselves with the Christian values along with the required educational qualification in this competitive world. Earlier the program was grace by pastor ENPUF Church, Wokha followed by special numbers from the campers and prize distribution. The camp also witnessed participation of tribes from other communities and Sunday school teachers of Sumi Church Wokha helped in making the camp a successful one.
Anti malaria month in Longleng
DIMAPUR: Anti malaria month was observed in Longleng district at various levels. Resource person DPO (NVBDCP) Longleng exhorted the community to co-operate with malaria staff to bring down malaria cases and death due to malaria in the district. Mentioning that malaria was not solely responsible for controlling vector borne diseases, he encouraged the community to come forward and test which are being made available. Malaria camp was also conducted at Pongching village on June 13 where 205 blood slides were collected and RDT done on the spot where 2pf and 3pv were tested positive. Insecticide bet net treatment was demonstrated and free anti malaria drugs, pamphlets, banner and posters were distributed.
RSBY card renewal for Kohima
KOHIMA: Beneficiaries of RSBY (Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana) a smart cart based health insurance scheme, yet to renew have been informed to do so from the office of Clairvoyance Technologist Pvt. Ltd, at Old Taxi Stand opposite Bible House Kohima from 9am to 5pm from June 30 to July 4. Directorate of labor department informed that this will be the last coverage for Kohima town beneficiaries. Meanwhile, RSBY team would visit Western Angami villages of Kohima block on July 3 for card renewal. All village leaders are directed to apprise the beneficiaries of their respective village. NPF Akuluto unit new office bearers
DIMAPUR: Naga People’s Front (NPF) 31 A/C Akuluto held its party meeting on June 25 at the residence of Kakheto Kinimi ex-minister and party in-charge 31 A/C Akuluto unit. The party workers unanimously elected the new office members to be headed by president M. Vikheto Chophy and general secretary Kakiye Chishi along with youth wing president Zhukheto Kiho, general secretary Inaka Sumi and women wing president Asheni Kiho, general secretary Atoni N and other members. Kanito declared Kakheto Kinimi ex-minister to be the party leader and to represent NPF 31 A/C Akuluto for the forth coming general election. Clarification to ACC, Satakha leaders
DIMAPUR: Clarifying the press statement issued by 36th ACCC, Sataka on June 22, Qhiveto Jimo ex- chairman, Xukhepu VCC, Yeshika Jimo ex-chairman, Zungti VCC, Ahovi Jimo ex-secretary, Kulhopu VCC, Khetovi Jimo ex-chairman, Nikuto VCC and Hovishe ex-chairman, Ghukiye VCC said that they were chairman and secretaries of their respective Village Congress Committee (VCC) till their resignations on June 12 to extend their support and to strengthen the leadership of G. Kaito Aye, minister road and bridges. It further said that after serving the Congress party with sincerity for the past 3 years, they expected to hear praises but were taken aback when they were leveled with “farcical allegations”. They also asked who were the VCC chairman and secretaries of the 5 villages if they were not and said that such allegation from responsible leader were nothing short of lies. They also informed 36th ACCC leaders to mind their activities instead of publishing such false statements.
IMFL seized at Mokokchung
Dimapur: Acting on a tip off, excise party led by inspectors Tsutiyanger and Benjong Wati intercepted a Scorpio between NH Amguir -Mokokchung road and recovered 720 bottles of IMFL (rum) from the vehicle. During the process, two persons- identified as Hokato Sema son of Kashito Sema and Tonibi Sema son of Tokivi Sema were arrested. The two persons were booked U/S .3 and 44 of NLTP Act, 1989 and the seized articles kept at excise malkhana, police said.
Dimapur: Longsachung Village Students’ Union (LVSU) has convened a meeting on July 2, 3:30pm at the residence of Elabemo Ezung, Saron colony.

Dimapur Club meeting on July 16: Dimapur Club has informed all members to pay an amount of `5000 as membership fee for the current year 2011-12 if they desire to continue membership with the Club. The amount may be paid in cash/cheque/DD in favour of President, Dimapur Club on or before July 10. The club shall not entertain any request whatsoever after the expiry of the July 10 deadline. Application for BBA in fashion designing: Directorate of technical education, Kohima has informed that applications for the ten reserved seats for the state of Nagaland for BBA in fashion design for the session 2011-14 at Institute of the Global Open University, Nagaland may be sent to A. Kathipri, director on or before July 15. The minimum qualification required for admission is 10 + 2 passed in any stream and the University would provide a special concession of 30% in the fee structure.

NPF Phek division meeting postponed: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Phek division executive office bearers meeting convened on July 5 has been postponed to July 6, 1:30pm at the official residence of Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, minister for Health and Family Welfare. A press release issued by division press secretary Veduvo Rhakho stated that due to the some unavoidable official engagement, the meeting has been deferred and further requested all the division office bearers to attend the meeting.

Anti-malaria month observed: Advocacy workshop on malaria was organized at Tepun village, Peren district by CMO Peren, on June 24. During the workshop, Ntuma MO I/C PHC spoke on control and prevention of malaria which need early diagnosis and complete treatment. Local villagers, VCC members, VHC members, woman leaders, church leaders and youth leaders participated in the programme. Meanwhile, sub-inspector NVBDCP collected 52 blood slides and above 100 patients was treated and distributed with anti-malaria drugs and other medicines free of cost.
Tailoring, cosmetology and basic guitar course: Centre for empowering women and child has informed that 6 months course in tailoring, cosmetology and basic guitar for women and child would be commencing from July 18 for both day scholars and hostellers. Interested persons can contact during office hours from 10am to 3pm.
District level Science seminar 2011: District education officer, Dimapur has informed all headmasters/headmistress of both government and private school under Dimapur district that district level students up to Class X science seminar 2011 would be held under the topic ‘chemistry for human welfare: promises and concern’. All schools have been requested to select the best student (one) and submit the name of the participants before July 15 at DEO office.
Two days training on office procedures, service rules: Two days training programme on office procedures, service rules, leave rules, pension rules and several other establishment matters was conducted on June 28-29 at DC conference hall, Wokha. Renchamo Lotha, additional secretary to the government of Nagaland (retired) was the resource person. Altogether thirty nine departments attended the training programme.
Mission awakening seminar: A mission awakening seminar for Chakhesang Baptist Church Council Dimapur area will be held on July 1 and 2, 9am at Chakhesang Baptist Church, East Dimapur. The seminar is being organized by the Chakhesang Mission Society CMS. All pastors, mission board chairmen and mission treasurers of each local Church under Dimapur area have been asked to attend positively.

ATC East fixes rate of pork: Ad-hoc Town Council (ATC) East Dimapur has fixed the rate of pork (local and supply) at Rs.130 per kilogram with immediate effect. ATC said that any individual butcher found selling above the fixed rate would be imposed a heavy penalty on the spot and their license cancelled.
Thomgwang Konyak elected as candidate from 46 AC Mon town: District Headquarter of Mon district, Mon Town Naga People’s Front (NPF) party 46 A/C held an executive meeting on June 27 and selected N. Thomgwang Konyak vice president NPF Nagaland and former NPF candidate as the candidate for the next general election from 46 AC Mon town. The unit has further appealed to all party workers to stand united for the success of the NPF candidate in the next election.

Two suspended from Naga Army, FGN: Commander, 5th Bde S/C Naga Army, FGN, has served the suspension order of “Captain” Thomas (Commander Phek town command) and “Lieut”. Rukupa of 15th Battalion under region in connection with the case of late Nüchizo Rakho, son of late Vethitso Rakho of Tehephu village with immediate effect from June 28. They have been suspended for a period of six months due to the violation and misuse of power under chapter-14, Section-9; Clause ‘A, and ‘B’ of the Naga Army rules and regulations. Pochury Region expels two: Azor Vurry (Levi) “Leacy” secretary Sb Nungnatsu Vurry of Old Thewati Village and James Fithu “Khapur” Phoyisha sub-region Sb Throchu Fithu of Hutsu village have been expelled from Pochury Region FGN on June 29 due to violation of the region government resolution and absence in the government duties and activities for a long period.
