Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Wokha, Indian Council of Agricultural Research complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre conducted large scale frontline demonstration programme on application of trichocard (trichogramma spp.) from June 27 to 29.
The programme was conducted to draw attention to control of stem borer and leaf folder, the two major insect pests infesting the jhum paddy covering three villages of the district.
The resource person was N. Khumdemo Ezung, programme coordinator (i/c) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Wokha and Lireni Kikon, programme assistant (plant protection) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Wokha.
In the technical session, the life cycle of stem borer and leaf folder, mode of infestation as well as the mode of action of the parasitoid (trichogramma spp) was thoroughly discussed by Lireni Kikon followed by live demonstration on the method of application of the trichocard, conducted under the technical supervision of N. Khumdemo Ezung with the active participation of the farmers.
Free inputs were also distributed to the participating farmers.
Meanwhile, N. Khumdemo Ezung on behalf of the farmers’ has expressed gratitude to Peter Yanthan, district agriculture officer Wokha for providing the input support.
