With a view to increase awareness and to promote safe Voluntary Blood Donation among government employees in the State, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) and Nagaland State Blood Transfusion Council (NSBTC) organised a campaign on voluntary blood donation from August 2010.
This campaign has been initiated to educate the large work force employed in the government sector about the importance of blood donation in saving lives. An official bulletin informed that the campaign is planned to expand voluntary blood donation programme and to reinforce local campaigns. Government departments like the police head quarters, school education, district rural development agency, regional transport office, horticulture, soil and water conservation and irrigation and flood control, health and family welfare had responded to the call by conducting the awareness campaign and blood donation camps within respective departments. The resource persons for awareness campaign are Dr. V. Khamo, Sr. medical officer, Blood bank NHAK, Dr. Lima Jamir joint director NSACS and Alipoker, consultant VBD, NSACS.
