DNSU ‘Cultural Regale’
DIMAPUR: Dimapur Naga Student’s Union (DNSU) ‘Cultural Regale’ was held on June 30 with Director NEZCC, Som Kamei IPS as the chief guest.
Highlights of the day were special number by Tangkhul Students’ Union Diphupa, folk dance competition, ethic section and modern design competition.
In the folk dance competition, Lotha Students union and Tangkhul Students Union were declared winners, while Sumi Students Union won the ethnic section award, modern round award including the best designer award.
Mass social work held at Wokha
DIMAPUR: GHSS Colony Wokha Town Eloe Ekhung and the Youth League conducted a mass social work on June 25 in order to keep the colony clean and healthy.
In this connection president Eloe Ekhung GHSS Colony has expressed gratitude to all the women members and the youth league volunteers for their cooperation and participation during the social work, Y. L Jami and family and Amos Humtsoe, vice-president, Kyong Students’ Union for supporting financially, materially and physically during the mass social work.

DIMAPUR: The members of Pangti Village Unit Congress Committee (PVUCC) have declared to resign from the active and primary membership of INC party and join NPF under the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and Dr. Shürhozelie Liezetsu, president NPF state.
The former INC members are Khonsao Shitiri, president; Thungdemo Yanthan, general secretary and members Nribemo Lotha, Renchio, Nzibeni, Martha Shitiri and Nribeni.
SCD fresher’s day
DIMAPUR: The formal inauguration of the academic year 2011-12 cum fresher’s day of Salesian College Dimapur (SCD) was held on June 30 at Fr. Paul Bernick Memorial Auditorium of Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur.
The chief guest Dr. Udaya Shankar Saha, general manager NABARD, Dimapur, exhorted the students to pursue their goals with commitment and determination by making use of all the wonderful opportunities granted by the college and to serve the society as true and committed people.
To mark the day, various musical items and variety programmes were presented by the students of the college.
Fr. Vincent SDB, rector of the college delivered the welcome address, principal of the college, Fr. Joseph Cherian SDB, presented the 2010 college report.
The programme ended with a football match between the fresher and the rest of the college that ended in a draw.
WSH emergency meeting: Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has convened an emergency meeting on July 2, 10am at WSH office, Chekiye. All frontal organization under WSH as WSH, WSKH, WSSU, WSSA, Youth front, SOUD, all Hd GB and advisors, Sumi legislators and elders have been requested to attend the meeting.
NSAMB board of directors 3rd meeting: Nagaland State Agricultural Marketing Board (NSAMB) has convened its 3rd board of directors meeting on July 5, 11am at Hotel Japfu conference hall. All members of the board have been requested to attend the meeting.
DSO inform government head teacher & teacher in-charge: District Statistical Officer (DSO) Dimapur has informed all government head teacher/teacher in-charge within Dimapur district who have been authorized to issue birth certificate in their village and have submitted bio-date along with their photographs, to collect their identity card from the office of district statistical officer, Dimapur during office hours from July 4.
YSU inform members: Yanmhon Students’ Union (YSU) golden jubilee magazine committee has informed all its members to contribute articles to be published for the forthcoming golden jubilee 2011. KSUJ 24th freshers’ day: Kyong Students’ Union Jakhama (KSUJ) would be hosting its 24 freshers’ day cum past pupil on July 23, 9:30am at Ungma Kiti conference hall Kohima under the theme ‘Be a man’. LMRSU presidential meeting: Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) has convened its 3rd presidential meeting on July 7, 11am at KSU office, Wokha. All unit presidents have been requested to attend the meeting.
Polytechnic Atoizu Training: One week training on “auto-CAD” for final year students of civil engineering would be conducted from July 11 at Govt. Polytechnic Kohima. Interested students have been informed to contact Limasenla lecturer at 8974624365.
GTSU felicitation prog: Ghathashi town students’ union (GTSU) would be organizing a social gathering cum felicitation programme for successful candidates of HSLC and HSSLC on July 16 at 11am at LCS building near Ao Church Kohima. Theodore Yanthan SDO (C) Pughoboto would grace the occasion as chief quest. The union has requested all members, parents, elders and in-laws of Ghathashi to attend the function.
Pensioners’ physical verification: Sr. treasury officer, Wokha R.N.Yanthan has informed all pensioners drawing pension from treasury office Wokha that pensioners’ physical verification would be held on July 6 at treasury office Wokha. All life and family pensioners have been requested to attend the physical verification during office hours.
Inauguration of ATMA hall at Jalukie: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Peren district would be conducting a monthly meeting cum inauguration of ATMA hall at its head office Jalukie town on July 7 at 11am. Khrienuo C. Metha, deputy commissioner and ATMA governing body chairman, Peren district would be the chief guest. All the responsible ATMA Management Committee (AMC) and Bio-Technology Team (BTT) members and all ATMA officials have been requested to attend the programme.
Kohima town panchayat general meeting: Chairman, D. block Panchayat has informed all the panchayats of Kohima town that a general meeting of chairmen and secretaries would be held on July 2, 11am at Kitsubozou panchayat hall. Further, every panchayat have been requested to send one representatives along with a registration fee of Rs.1000.
LIYAL cultural exhibition: The Laza Iyinu Youth Association, Lazami (LIYAL) would be organizing Tuluni cultural exhibition on July 7 and 8 at Laza Lyinu local ground. All former office bearers, Khel members and well wishers have been invited to witness the exhibition.
Backward tribe grant: Directorate of underdeveloped areas Nagaland, Kohima has informed beneficiaries of six backward tribes namely Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam and Yimchungrü to collect the second installment of the grant during office hours on or before July 31. Students are asked to bring a Xerox copy of school/college ID duly attested by the head of the institution, one passport size (similar to already submitted) and mark sheet of promotional exam duly attested by Gazetted officer.
UFBU strike postponed: United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU) general secretary, Nagaland unit has informed that the proposed UFBU all India strike on July 7 has been postponed to August 5 during the meeting at Chennai on June 30.
PWD colony youth warns: PWD colony youth organization has warned any one found taking alcohol, drugs, indulging in anti-social element and disturbing colony residents would be dealt with seriously. The organization had a joint meeting with the colony Panchayat and elders and resolved not to tolerate those caught red handed and further informed that there would be surprise checking.
PLCC resolution: The Panchayat Lower Chandmari colony (PLCC) had an emergency meeting along with youth organization and GBs on June 26 at Panchayat office as per the complaint lodged by the colony residents in regard to theft/stolen case. In the meeting, the members resolved that if any thief was caught red handed, then he would be penalized/imposed triple the amount of the materials that have been stolen and if the culprit continues to steal, then he would be handed over to the police.
Tuensang district 2nd phase photography campaign: Deputy Commissioner & district election officer, Tuensang district has informed that 2nd phase photography campaign for Tuensang district on EPIC & PER 2011 would start from July 2 to 27. The schedule for dates of photography for each polling station would be available for inspection at the office deputy commissioner & district election officer, Tuensang.
ESU general meeting: Elumyo Students’ Union (ESU) has convened a general meeting on July 2, 9am with the approval of head G.B.Elumyo village. All citizens, elders and organization of the village have been requested to attend the meeting.
SAKD meeting: Sumi Aphuyemi Kuqhakulu Dimapur (SAKD) has convened a meeting on July 2, 10am at the residence of Vikiye, banker Nepali basti. All editorial boards, office bearers and executive have been requested to attend the meeting.
LCC executive meeting: Landmark Colony Council has convened an executive council meeting on July 2, 4:30 pm at the residence of N.M Ovung treasure/banker. All council members have been requested to attend the meeting.
Meeting on biometric enrolment: As part of the ongoing National Population Register (NPR) exercise, the Biometrics enrolment for the citizens of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) started in Ward – 0001 (High School) from June 27 to 29. In this regard, a meeting with all the other ward authorities, including GB’s, youth leaders and welfare board under KMC has been convened on July 4, 2pm at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima. According to an official bulletin, the notification was issued by revenue officer and sub-district registrar, Kohima Kovi Meyase.
KUD flays murder: The Kandi-nu Union Dimapur (KUD) has denounced the murder of its member Sukhu Rengma, resident of Rengma Gaon, Bor-lingri, Assam on June 17. KUD in a press statement issued by its president, K.N. Rengma said Sukhu was murdered the night of June 17 by one Hemato Shohe, s/o Shikiho Shohe of Rotomi village. While terming the act as “gruesome act and an abomination in the Naga way of life”, KUD has advised all not to interfere in the matter but to let the law take its own course. It further appealed to the Khatkhati police, Karbi Anglong, Assam to make sure that all evidences are taken care of, including the past antecedents of the accused so that bail to the accused is denied in the interest of the larger society.
DPDB Kiphire meeting deferred: Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) monthly meeting scheduled to be held on July 5 has been deferred till further notification for preparation and arrangement of an upcoming important programme/meeting. A press release issued by S. Akho Theyo, district planning officer Kiphire stated that members would be informed accordingly as and when a new date is decided. Further all DPDB members have been requested to take note of the changes.
