NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) has claimed that one ‘major’Hotoi (a Khehoi camper) was involved in the June 30 bomb attack on a shop at 3rd Mile Dimapur. Reacting to the Police press statement which alleged that the attack was a result of a clash between two factions of the NSCN (K) over taxation, the NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) denied it saying Hotoi was responsible. It said the revelation came after it had conducted its own inquiry into the incident which found that ‘major’Hotoi, presently residing at Chekiye as the one who hurled the bomb inside the shop.
It said Hotoi had a share in the business with Pankaj Jain, the owner and was contemplating to take over the business due to “non-clearance of account” which led to misunderstanding between them. Further it alleged that ‘major’Hotoi on earlier occasions, threatened Pankaj at gun point and was also contemplated on evicting him (Pankaj) from Dimapur by duress.
Admitting that it also had a misunderstanding with Pankaj in negotiating the yearly taxes in the past, the outfit said it had also locked his shop and if it had any intention of harming him, it would “apprehended/captured the owner in the first place to sort out the matter”.
“Taking advantage of the situation prevailing in Dimapur and also the fact that he is a Khehoi Camper, Major Hotoi besides inflicting psychological trauma on Pankaj, hurled the bomb at the retail shop with an intention to blame the NSCN/GPRN,” the publicity wing claimed. It held “major” Hotoi solely responsible for June 30 bomb hurling incident. “We condemn such act that took the life of an innocent individual and causing injury to 3 others,” it stated.
