NSCN (I-M), PLA cadres held

Two NSCN (I-M) cadres and a PLA cadre were nabbed by security forces during counter insurgency operations in different parts of Manipur, official sources said Saturday.
The NSCN (I-M) cadres were apprehended by troops of Red Shield Division with weapons from Khunphung village at Manipur-Nagaland border under Tamei subdivision of Tamenglong district.
They were identified as ‘ss lieutenant’ Amo and ‘ss private’ Awangbo. Two AK 56 rifles, 35 live rounds, four detonators and 250 gm of explosive were recovered from the apprehended cadres, a statement from PIB (Defense Wing) Imphal said, adding that they were handed over to Imphal Police Station.
In another operation, troops of Red Shield Division recovered an arms cache from Yang Khullen in Senapati District. The recovered arms that were buried underground consisted of a 12 bore single barrel rifle, six live 8mm rounds, three Chinese grenades and two HE 36 grenades. The recovery was later handed over to Mao Police Station. A PLA cadre identified as Sarangthem Priyokumar (25) son of Bihari Singh of Lamdeng Khunou, Imphal west was arrested by troops of 27 Assam Rifles along with one 9 mm pistol with a magazine loaded with 10 live rounds.
