Tetso College celebrated its annual freshers’ day on June 28 with Joel Nillo Kath, Editor, The Letter Age, as chief guest.
Joel Nillo Kath in his speech, reminisced about his student days in St. Stephens Delhi, his regrets and accomplishments. Speaking about the present scenario in Naga society where corruption is rampant including taxes imposed by countless underground factions affecting the economic progress, he asked the present student generation to step up to the responsibility of becoming the future leaders in society and change things. He further donated `10,000 to towards the college fund.
Dr. P. S. Lorin, the Principal, stated that the college would do everything to push the students to do better, to work harder and to put in more effort in their studies.
Situations may arise when the students may feel the pressure, but should remember that the college has their best interests in mind. In addition, Tetso College is currently in the process of pursuing NAAC accreditation and conducting its self-study report.
Other highlights of the program were performances by Inatoli Swu, a degree student of the college, and also 1st Runners up in the Naga Idol 2008, dance by Dynamic Prince, Pink Shishi girls and introduction of Freshers’.
Performance bonus’ for teachers and UGC stipends to deserving students were also awarded.
