Post Mortem

A personal sadness

Coming across the latest turn of events in Naga national politics at this juncture, I am morally compelled to express my feelings in all fairness.
When I came across the news article on the 15th of Feb 2019, “Trouble, NNC President removed from power” I instantly understood that what was foreseen and expected had happened. The unconstitutional action by the Kedahge, FGN, Brig. (Retd) S. Singnya was only because of the reason for my refusal to join or support the NNPGs but personally I am not worried at all. It is their unquestionable personal discretion to support or withdraw their support to my leadership because it is a matter of principle. But under any circumstance, why should and how can I compromise the national principle.
However, there is an element of sadness. I personally know well Brig. (Retd) S. Singnya. He is a dedicated and righteous man but unfortunately he cannot read and write well. Because of this disadvantage, some people had been using him as a Rubber stamp but sadly he is blind to this reality. I am really sorry for him and at the same time sad because some educated youth of today have lost the universal love and respect to the elders. Also I am sad because belying my expectation that my friend Mr. Senka Ao can be a trusted national worker, he proved to be a defector and a betrayer.
As for me I have to declare that my tenure of office is not yet completed and except in  the event of breach of the constitution or committing any offence against our Nation which require my removal from office, I shall not step down from office but continue to uphold our national principle, “SOVEREIGNTY”.
Gen. (Retd) Thinoselie M Keyho, President, Naga National Council, Nagaland
