Staff Reporter Dimapur, Jul 15 (NPN) | Publish Date: 7/16/2018 12:35:29 AM IST
From Rs.7.50 during 2016-17, the rate of a piece of mud brick has shot up by an astronomical 30% in March 2018.
The new rate is Rs.9.50 and added with various taxes till unloading at site, a piece brick will now cost Rs.10.50. It may be recalled, that usually the price of brick is influenced by various factors such as cost of coal, labour charges and taxes applicable. Invariably, the cost rises by around 40 paisa to 50 paisa but this time the cost has risen by around Rs. 2 per brick.
To top it all, bricks have disappeared from the market and construction works have ground to a halt. Prices of all construction items such as sand, stone chips, rods etc have shot up in the absence of monitoring authority. Cost for building homes has become exorbitant.
