Nagaland governor, PB Acharya visited landslide affected areas in Chare town on September 10.

According to DIPR, the governor during his visit interacted with village councils, GBs, church workers, women organisations, government officials, security agencies and NGOs.

During the interaction, various public leaders highlighted about the plight and lack of development in the area. The area administrative officer apprised the Governor that Chare being one of the oldest EAC administrative outpost in the state established in 1968 should be upgraded to SDO Headquarters.

The Governor also visited Chare village for a breakfast-cum-interaction programme hosted by the village Council on September 11.

There, the governor stressed on the need for the people to change their mindset and contribute more to the society instead of being dependable on the government. He reminded them that hard work and dedication can bring a lot of changes in the society. Further, he encouraged the people to be self sustaining by utilising the rich biodiversity resources available in the region.

He further appealed to the community to contribute towards the relief fund.

Heeding to the appeal, Chare Baptist Church, Women organisations and the public came forward and willingly donated Rs. 16,548 through collection.
