Achumbemo Kikon appointed as NPF secretary general

NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on January 22 appointed senior NPF member and party’s spokesperson, Achumbemo Kikon as the secretary general of the NPF party with immediate effect.

Achumbemo’s appointment comes after Rajya Sabha MP, KG Kenye quit as the secretary general of the party on December 20, 2020. As per the order issued by NPF vice president, Kruzakie Kelio, the appointment of Achumbemo shall be reviewed before the next state general election, if found necessary.
The party also cautioned the newly appointed official of the party’s constitution to maintain discipline during the appointed period. 
It may be recalled that Kenye, a senior party member, quit as the secretary general a day after he was issue a show-cause notice by NPF Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) for voting in favour of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Parliament
Later, the party, on January 8, 2020, suspended Kenye from both primary and active membership of the party till further orders.
