ACID hosts development programme for women

Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID-cum-NDWM) through the support of National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD), RO Assam commenced Micro Enterprise Development Programmes (MEDP) for 60 self help group (SHG) members belonging to six SHG groups from Borlengri area and Rongpi Bosti.

A press release by ACID stated that the programme was officially inaugurated by DDM NABARD, Assam, Pauliankap Bulte on February 8 in Assisi auditorium.

In her welcome address, UFS, director ACID, Sr. Pramila Lobo expressed her gratitude to NABARD Assam for constant support, guidance and reaching out to many rural women to enhance their skills and make them economically stable.

She stated that NABARD has been supporting the organisation through different skill training programmes which attempts to bridge the skill deficit or facilitates optimisation of production activity pursued by SHG members. 

In his inaugural address, Pauliankap Bulte stated that the skills that SHG members learned was equal to training the whole family because as home makers, the skill trainings helped them become economically stable.

He also encouraged them to function their SHG groups with proper objectives and not to depend on the credit linkage alone but rather become self-sufficient by acquiring the skills tactfully.

Through proper savings, skill trainings and other income generating activity programmes they should enhance their economic stability, he stated.

Meanwhile, LDM, R. Saha made the participants aware about financial literacy programme and social security schemes such as PMJJY, PMSBY, APY, Rupay scheme, Mudra Yojana. He also educated them on fraud calls from which deceive them by asking for bank details or lottery.

Earlier, the programme was facilitated by Moala and invocation by Noksenmakla.
