Activities conducted under Poshan Maah

Various activities have been conducted across the state throughout the month of September under Poshan Maah.

Pfutseromi village: Department of Social Welfare under the establishment of child development project officer (CDPO), ICDS Pfutsero held an inauguration programme of model centre at Pfutseromi village, Anganwadi Centre-C on September 29. 
A press release by ICDS Pfutsero stated that, Welete Kapfo official PS to minister of Planning and Coordination, Parliamentary Affairs and Land Revenue as the inaugural guest said that the village was very fortunate to be selected as the first model centre among 62 centres under Pfutsero ICDS. 
He encouraged the Anganwadi workers and helpers to put more efforts in developing and shaping the society for a better tomorrow. 
Kapfo also acknowledged the government and the department for taking initiatives to bring social changes in the villages and rural areas through nutritional and educational development assistance. Brief report on the Anganwadi Model Centre was given by CDPO Pfutsero, Keneikesangulie Zumu and also a brief note on Poshan Abhiyan observed from September 1 to 30. Note of gratitude was extended by Pfutseromi Village Council (PVC) chairman, M. Mero. VDB secretary Pfutseromi, Zekozo Mero also gave acknowledgement. Earlier, programme was led by supervisor ICDS Pfutsero, Nyitso Therie. “Local food show” was also held together under Poshan Maah. 
Wokha: A programme on adolescent girls was held at Koio community hall on September 28 on the topic “health and nutrition” and “tobacco and teens”. Resource speaker Dr. Abenthung Murry, medical officer, Chukitong Primary Health Centre spike on how adolescent nutrition was important for supporting the physical growth and for preventing future health issues.
Dr. Daisy, district nodal officer of the National Tobacco Control Programme urged upon the adolescents to avoid consumption of tobacco as it affected the development of body and functioning of brain’s system. Programme was chaired by sr. supervisor, Zubemo Jami. (Correspondent)
Mon: Anaemia screening camp organised by the department of Social Welfare Mon in collaboration with Health & Family Welfare department was held at district programme officer (ICDS) office, Mon on September 28. According to DIPR report, short programme was held before the screening camp led by Y. Tauhong Ngonyen DPO, Mon and where BMP briefed the participants about the cause of anaemia and the importance of haemoglobin test.  
Altogether 47 adolescent girls participated at the camp for screening, from Anganwadi centres under Mon block. Programme was organised by the block convergence action plan committee under the aegis of Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan. Medical team was led by Pongjei Konyak, block programme manager, CMO office Mon, accompanied by two ANMs.
