Adopt Street Vendors Act: NVCO to Govt

Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has asked the state government to adopt the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014.

In a press release, NVCO media cell stated that while commemorating the “International Labour Day” on May 1 in Kohima, NVCO had reiterated its demand to adopt Street Vendors Act 2014 along with a provision of special preferences to be given to the local i.e. Naga indigenous inhabitants while issuing certificate of vending/license.
Highlighting the importance of adopting the Act, NVCO said it would promote and protect the livelihood of the citizens of the state and also improve state economy by encouraging the local vendors to promote local produce.
NVCO president, Kezhokhoto Savi, said the Act would create conducive atmosphere for street vendors to do their business in dignity and provide livelihood protection to street vendors across the country. He also highlighted the salient features of the Street Vendors Act 2014.
