Advisory board  formed to enhance audit effectiveness

The first meeting of newly constituted State Level Audit Advisory Board (SLAAB), Nagaland was held on August 24 in the conference hall of the Accountant General (Audit), Kohima.

The main objective of constituting SLAAB is to enhance the effectiveness of audit by providing a forum for professional discussion between the senior management of audit office and knowledgeable and experienced professionals from varied fields.

SLAAB is headed by Accountant General (Audit), A. Pitoho Chophy, IAAS as chairman and Deputy Accountant General (Audit) Nikhil J. Chakravarthi, IAAS as member secretary. Members of the newly constituted SLAAB from different fields are Dr. Kilemla, Dr. L. M. Murry, Rev. Dr. Chingmak from Eleuheros Christian Society, Tuensang, Dr. I. P. Khala, Rtd. Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, Chairman Nagaland Voluntary Consumer Organisation, Neichute Duolo, CEO, Entrepreneurs Associates, Rev. Dr. Ellen C. Jamir, Associate Professor of Pastoral Care & Counselling, Oriental Theological Seminary, Dimapur and Narayan Bahadur, journalist, Press Trust of India, Kohima. The ex-officio members are – E M Patton, IAAS, Pr. AG (A&E) and Kahoto J. Yepthomi, IAAS, Dy. AG (A&E).

During the meeting, SLAAB discussed on the implementation of the government programmes and schemes and audit findings made through the CAG report for previous years of various state government departments and also the private firms in the State.

The members present also expressed serious concern on financial irregularities in various government departments while emphasizing on the need to create better awareness among the general populace on the audit reports, which are annually submitted to the government and laid in the State Assembly.
