AFF Peren alleges misuse of relief fund

Alleging embezzlement of 2017-2018 disaster relief fund, the Aggrieved Farmers Forum (AFF) New Jalukie Village has served a five-day ultimatum on the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Peren to immediately arrest and take legal action to those staff involved in the misuse of disaster fund within five days.

In an ultimatum addressed to the chairman DDMA Peren, the AFF convener Liangkebo and secretary Saipingmakbo said the fund was purely sanctioned for the affected disaster management purpose. However, they alleged that the fund could not reach the targeted genuine farmer beneficiaries due to the involvement of “some insincere and corrupted staffs”.

AFF stated that for many years the ignorant farmers were given assurances that the disaster relief fund would be provided, but those assurances never materialized. Therefore, AFF New Jalukie village urged the responsible authority to take action against those involved, failing which the forum has warned to take its own course of action and the authority would bear responsible if any untoward incident happened.
