AKMWP appeals to Churches, Hohos, communities in Kohima

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 5/29/2020 1:52:01 PM IST

 Much has been said and done in the ongoing fight against COVID19 Pandemic thus far. Our attention is once again drawn to the immediate challenge of suitable Home Quarantine Centres as many returnees do not have suitable homes for quarantine, thereby endangering their immediate family members and consequently the public at large. This has acquired added significance due to steep growth of Covid19 cases and chances of more asymptomatic carriers.

AKMWP, its constituent Wards and sector Panchayats are obliged to ascertain if home quarantine can be observed practically and effectively, considering the physical conditions of the individual’s house so as to to ensure the containment and safety for all.  Some of the measures taken by Panchayats after Physical visits and interaction with the families are

-Causing A4 paper sized Notice, that the house is quarantined observation home for 14days wef.... ;-where lack of toilet amenities was observed, the colony youths assisted the family in erecting a temporary toilet structure, thus rendering it suitable for home quarantine;

-in another instance, a family living in tight space, opted to move in with relatives in other areas of the town to allow their child and a caretaker to observe the 14 day home quarantine at their residence;

AKMWP has through Kohima municipal wards initiative have put in place 4(four) home quarantine facilities for those people staying in rented house and not feasible for home quarantine protocol.

The list goes on, but far greater number of people will be in urgent need of suitable accomodation to serve the important 14 day Home quarantine. Under the circumstances, AKMWP earnestly appeals to all Kohima Town based able and willing members and institutions to consider and volunteer to help, especially, considering the need for providing fooding and accommodation to an individual for a minimum of 14 days period, at one’s own expense and resources

We are obliged to make fervent appeals specially to

1. Churches (all denominations) having rest houses and or empty vacant spaces to consider accomodating respective members for observational home quarantine of 14 days.

Those Churches willing and eager to help and care for even more people in need, may kindly intimate AKMWP so that others in need, avail blessings through you and your Church.

2. Tribal Hohos, Communities, clubs, registered societies, committed bodies and individuals willing to undertake the responsibilities for providing home quarantine facilities may also intimate AKMWP for allotting names of those in need of home quarantine.
