All Nagaland Inter-College Sports meet begins

The first All Nagaland Inter-College Sports and Literary Meet, organised by the Private College Association Nagaland (PCAN), got underway on Tuesday at Tetso College, Dimapur. A total of 23 colleges from Nagaland are taking part in the two-day meet. 

Capital College emerged as the winner in men’s singles table tennis while Tetso College bagged the runner-up.

In women’s singles, St. Joseph College Jakhama and Tetso College came first and second.

In men’s doubles category, St. Joseph College Jakhama and Unity College emerged as the winner and runner-up respectively while St. Joseph College Jakhama emerged as the winner and Kohima Science College bagged the runner-up in women’s doubles category.

In the women’s inter-college staff badminton doubles, Dr. Hewasa Lorin and Onentila Lonkumer of Tetso College emerged as the winner.

In the debate competition, Esther Sonar from C-Edge College emerged as the winner while Linovi P. Kiba from St. John College and Kutto Assumi from Unity College bagged the joint second place.

Exhibition badminton match was also played between the management and veterans. 

Delivering the welcome address, Joshua Achumi, convenor of PCAN Sports Committee, said the main objective of the event was to bring all colleges under Nagaland to compete, to know, and to have a healthy relationship with each other. He also asked the students to widen their horizons by making new friends and learning from them. 

Invocation was offered by Pastor Gwanilo Khing of Rengma Church, 5th Mile and welcome song was performed by students of St. John College. A beautiful rendition of folk fusion was performed by Mount Mary College and the vote of thanks was delivered by Er. Moa Aier of C-edge College.
