America’s undeniable failure in Afghanistan

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 8/25/2021 1:43:34 PM IST

For almost 20 years in Afghanistan, the way America showed the promise of establishing a legal system in Afghanistan with the help of its forces, it suddenly shattered it and left the Afghan people in the hands of the same Taliban. The manner in which the forces of America and NATO countries have run away from Afghanistan instead of handing it over to any legal authority, proves that the aim of the international powers was not to develop Afghanistan properly and they are only Talibani Islamic terrorists.

The American army had come to take revenge. As soon as this revenge was completed, they left this country.
After the election of Democrat President Joe Biden in America, there was hope in the world that the establishment of democratic values in the world would be accelerated. Solidarity with the European Union against China’s arbitrariness and activism on the issue of climate change had boosted this confidence, but the developments in Afghanistan have raised questions about the leadership role of the US.
The failure of Afghanistan along with Korea, Vietnam, Iraq has also been recorded in American history. The people of Afghanistan are living between fear and insecurity. Then the country has reached the condition of twenty years old. Those people from all the countries of the world who had come for the development of Afghanistan, are at the mercy of the Taliban today.
Questions are being raised that when the Taliban did not comply with the peace deal, what was the hurry for the US to leave Afghanistan? In the meantime, the Taliban continued the sequence of attacks and bombings, so why was it not forced to abide by the agreement. Why didn’t America show strictness? However, the haste of the Biden administration is causing embarrassment to America all over the world, while the world is apprehensive about the creation of a new ground of terror.
In fact, neither the US nor organizations like the United Nations have been able to assure that democratic values, and especially the rights of women, will be protected in Taliban-held Afghanistan.
The U.S. failed in Afghanistan for many reasons, but two head the list. First, the chosen mission—turning Afghanistan into a Western-style liberal democracy—wasn’t going to succeed no matter how long we stayed. Second, the policy makers and military commanders who ran this campaign lied to themselves and the public about the progress being made and the prospects for success.
Strategically, the Taliban is talking sweetly but it is difficult to trust them given its past. The Taliban has become the most powerful terrorist organization in the world today due to the Taliban’s capture of America’s hasty modern weapons and air force. It is too early to say that any acceptable leadership will be able to develop in the Taliban. Who will take the guarantee that Al Qaeda and ISIS have been eliminated from the soil of Afghanistan. If tomorrow Afghanistan becomes a terrorist’s paradise with the help of Pakistan and other countries, then it will not be an exaggeration.
