Anti-malaria month observed in Wokha

National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Wokha observed anti-malaria month in June under the theme “Zero malaria starts with me”, although activities were limited to small gatherings due to the COVID-19 crisis.

A press release from CMO office Wokha stated that, DSO Wokha, Dr. Thungbemo Patton said that, main objective was to create awareness and bring maximum behavioral changes in the community for prevention and elimination of malaria. He also added that fifteen villages were covered under Wokha district based on the prevalence of fever cases and hotspot areas. 

NVBDCP consultant, Wokha Wezolo Medo informed that awareness on symptoms, transmission, diagnosis, treatment, reduction of vector and root of delivery of services to the people were conducted in the villages. Villagers were also sensitised on the regular usage of long lasting insecticidal nets and sanitation drives were carried out with the help of villagers. Distribution of COVID-19 IEC leaflets, anti pyretic tablets and fever screenings were conducted in all the fifteen villages.
