Ao Senden on Monday declared that in the event of an honourable and acceptable solution to the Naga political issue being worked out between the Government of India and Naga negotiating parties, no individual or group other than Ao Senden shall be party to such an agreement on behalf of the Ao Nagas.

In a press release, the apex organisation of Ao Nagas said this was a reiteration of its earlier resolution made known to all Naga political groups on August 22, 2015 and claimed that it was all along working together with all Naga political groups in mutual concord in pursuance of a solution to the Naga political problem.
“In the event of an acceptable and honourable solution to the Naga political problem being arrived at between the Government of India and Naga negotiating parties, and should the need arise to represent the consent and participation of the Ao Naga community at large, then it shall be the sole prerogative of Ao Senden to do so. No individual or group other than Ao Senden shall append any signature to the eventual agreement on behalf of the Ao Nagas. This is a reiteration of our earlier declaration made on August 22, 2015,” stated the press release, which was appended by Chubawati Longchar and Imtipokyim, the organisation’s president and secretary respectively.
The release further stated that Ao Senden had been a part of the 14 Naga tribes working towards finding a peaceful solution to the Naga political problem, the negotiations for which is ongoing between the Government of India and the Naga political groups.
“This is pursuant to the Ao Senden resolution adopted on September 24, 2019 during its Federal Council assembly with the knowledge and consent of all apex bodies of the six federating ranges under Ao Senden. Ao Senden had on December 5, 2019 pronounced that no individual or group is allowed to meddle in this respect without the assent of Ao Senden or the apex bodies of the six federating ranges,” the released added.
While claiming that it was working closely with all the parties concerned on behalf of the Ao Nagas, the apex Ao body reiterated that any individual or group from the Ao community was forbidden to meddle with the issue without its knowledge and apex bodies of the six federating ranges and warned that anybody violating this decree would be dealt with befittingly.
