The Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) has vehemently condemned “the barbaric and inhuman act” of one Imtisungchet, who broke into a home in a burglary attempt which led to a subsequent attempt to murder on the night of April 17.

ASTD president, L Wati Jamir and secretary, K Mar Lemtur, in a condemnation note stated that the accused was aged around 21 years, son of late Mahesh Mech and Sashitsungla (Chanki Village), a resident of Aoyimkum Village, Dimapur.
It further added that the accused broke into the house of Toshinaro (daughter of late Rev. Ayutemjen,) a bona fide and revered member of the Ao community, thereby “heinously beating her” causing grievous injury to the victim’s person until she heroically confronted the accused.
The ASTD extended its sincere appreciation to Toshinaro and saluted her for her stunning act of bravery which, it added, creates a sense of bold patriotism in the general public and womenfolk in particular against such elements.
It further extended heartfelt gratitude to Dimapur Women Police and other law enforcing agencies for quickly apprehending the criminal and further urged that due justice be delivered to the victim and an exemplary punishment awarded to the culprit as per appropriate sections of law.
