ARTC&S conducts inter-school debate competition

Annual Assam Rifles inter-sector debate competition on Human Rights was organised at Assam Rifles Training Centre & School (ARTC&S), Dimapur on June 25 and 26. 

13 teams from Assam Rifles sectors and ARTC&S participated.  

A press release from Offg SO-1 (Edn), Maj Saumya Shruti stated that, Brigadier Arjun Segan, SM, commandant ARTC&S graced the competition as chief guest.  The topic for the debate was “to strictly observe human rights norms in all cases of security concerns is not possible”. 

A total of 48 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English with 24 each For and Against the motion. The main aim of this debate was to sensitize the troops about Human Rights and importance of their strict observance while dealing with the public.   Rifleman M Shrivastav of 22 Sector and Rifleman Balwan Singh of ARTC&S were adjudged the best speakers in Hindi debate For and Against the topic respectively.  Havildar Jay V J of 27 Sector and Rifleman Vicky Chhetri of 7 Sector were adjudged the best speaker in English debate For and Against the topic.  

ARTC&S team was adjudged the best team and 27 Sector team was declared the runners up. Assam Rifles team has also been selected to take part in the “Central Police Organisation’s North East Zone Debate Competition-2019” scheduled to be held at ARTC&S, Shokhuvi on July 24.
