Asian Paints NESS concludes

Tribal United FC were crowned champions of Asian Paints North East Super Six (NESS), Nagaland edition, here at Government Higher secondary School ground, Nagarjan, on November 9.  

The champions, who will represent Nagaland in the final to be held at Assam Engineering College, Guwahati on November 23, received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.   

Meanwhile, Arnab Malhotra, member of organising committee, said that one or two players from all north east states, totalling to 10 to 15 will be selected for trial run for the North East United Football Club (NEUFC) in January, 2020.  

The organisers also informed that Manton K Wangshu (16 years) was regarded as a potential and promising candidate for the NEUFC trial run, to be held on January, 2020. 

Wangshu, in a short interview, said that it was always his dream to play football at a professional level and thanked the organisers for the opportunity.  He also said that there were many young and talented players in Nagaland, in the field of sports, but due to negligence of the state government, many promising and aspiring players gave up sports. 

Wangshu hails from Konyak tribe and is a class 12 student of Patkai Christian College. 

The main title sponsors for the event was Asian Paints, and associate sponsored by CEAT tyres.
