Assam Rifles apprehend ogws of NSCN(I-M) in Tirap

Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Indian Army, in an operation, apprehended two Over Ground Workers (OGW) of NSCN(I-M) near Lower Kollam village and Khonsa Town in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh on April 23.

A press release by PRO ( Defence) stated that based on a specific intelligence input, the troops launched the operation in the area and apprehended the sympathizers of the proscribed group. 

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Tewang Hangsik, r/o Lower Kollam and DongleyLowang, r/o Lower Chinghana.  During the operation, the troops also recovered 1500 kgs of rice (30 bags) suspected to be siphoned off from PDS stocks and misappropriated for use by the insurgent group. 

The apprehended OGWs along with recovered items have been handed over to Khonsa Police Station for further investigations.
