Assam Rifles civic action programmes

As part of their civic action programmes, the Assam Rifles have been conducting various activities across the state on a regular basis. 

Tuensang Battalion: Tuensang Battalion carried out orientation-cum-training for Nagaland civil service (NCS) probationers of 2019 batch on December 14, at Tuensang. 

According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), an introduction to history, organisation and role of Assam Rifles and lecture on Naga insurgency was conducted in series of events. Probationers also visited unit lines, cook houses, training area, sports & shopping complex, IED training lab and weapon simulator room. 

Jalukie Battalion: Jalukie Battalion, conducted poster making and painting competition  at Government High School, Peren, Government Middle School, Heningkunglwa and ARPS, Jalukie under Swatchata Pakhwada. Children used vibrant colours and imagination in their paintings to spread awareness about  importance of cleanliness in day to day life and ill effects of unhygienic conditions on health and diseases related to it. A total of 247 children of all three schools took part in the competition. Jalukie Battalion also conducted a plantation drive at Children Home Peren under Swatchata Pakhwada. A total of 18 saplings were planted by the children. The children and staff planted the trees and took oath to take care of them. A lecture was also conducted with emphasis on global warming and reducing green cover in the region.

Further, Jalukie Battalion conducted a plantation drive under Swatchata Pakhwada on December 15 at Yettrang Baptist Academy and Government School Athibung. People of all ages participated and the idea of taking responsibility of at least one plant was imparted to them. They were also made aware about “Clean India and Green India” initiative by GOI. 

Tree plantation drive was also undertaken at Liangmai Baptist High School in Tening town, Peren district. A total of five staff members and 42 students of Baptist High School along with troops of Jalukie Battalion carried out plantation of 60 saplings of different varieties. This drive was aimed to make the people aware about the ways and means to safeguard the environment and promote the cause of clean and green surroundings. 

Kiphire Battalion: Assam Rifles, Kiphire Battalion, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North), organised lecture on “Stay fit stay healthy” at Marketing Shed, Longmatre town, on December 14.
