Assam Rifles organise various activities

Various battalions of Assam Rifles conducted civic action programmes across the state for welfare of the public.  

Tuensang Battalion: Tuensang Battalion organised “Pray for Peace” on February 29 with religious teachers and church representatives at Wangti. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the battalion stated that the programme was organised with an aim to encourage peace and harmony in the region. Initiatives of the Assam Rifles towards youth and women empowerment and various upcoming infrastructure developments to be taken up under military civic action projects for the region was conveyed. 
Chieswema Battalion: Chieswema Battalion organised basic yoga session for students of various schools at Pfutsero ground on March 3, as a stress buster for recently conducted board examinations. Yoga session was followed by lecture which gave an insight on various lifestyle diseases and need to practice healthy food habits to include physical activities to keep lifestyle diseases at bay. Awareness on health education and precautions from common viral diseases was also imparted, where 130 students participated in the event.
Wokha Battalion: Wokha Battalion, constructed a footpath and handed over to residents of Longsa village, Wokha on March 3, in presence of Village Council members, GBs, religious teachers and elders. The beaten track, besides being connected to village cemetery, was a lifeline for residents for fetching of basic amenities and was a major concern, especially during onset of monsoon. 
Dimapur Battalion: Dimapur Battalion organised a lecture on “Join the Security Forces” on February 16 at North Town Higher Secondary School, Chumukedima. The lecture covered information about the various opportunities, entry schemes and eligibility criteria to join the Security Forces. 
Kohima Battalion: Kohima Battalion on February 26 conducted a lecture on “skill development” at Eden Garden Orphanage Home, Khuzama village. Need for innovative thinking to facilitate income generation by undertaking skill based small scale ventures was also covered. 
Zunheboto Battalion: Zunheboto Battalion conducted medical and dental camp on February 27 at Longtokurr village. Treatment for basic ailment and free medicines was provided to the ailing. Apart from the medical assistance, basic awareness on corona virus and its precautions was imparted. Battalion also conducted a motivational lecture on “Join Indian Armed Forces” on February 27 at Lumitsami village, Zunheboto. In another event on February 27, the battalion also conducted an interaction with GBs of Chare village, Tuensang with an aim to express common concerns hampering progress in the region. 
The meeting highlighted the need to work together to bolster peace and development. Zunheboto Battalion also conducted a lecture on “women empowerment” at COB Longkhim, Tuensang on February 24 to bring out the important role of women in the society and to encourage them to live a life of dignity. 32 women attended the lecture.      
Jalukie Battalion: Jalukie Battalion organised a special assembly to deliver a recitation of the preamble to the constitution on February 27 at Baptist School, Tening, with an aim to spread awareness about the principles our constitution and the spirit on which the country’s foundation lay. Jalukie Battalion also conducted a medical camp at Nsong town on February 24. Treatment for basic ailment and free medicines was provided to the ailing. Basic awareness on corona virus and precautionary measures were also imparted. 137 residents benefitted from the camp. Battalion also organised a lecture on “Pledge India Toh Badega India” at government school Songlhuh, Peren on February 21. 60 students along with teaching staff attended the lecture.
