ASTD concerned over lack of PPE

Expressing disappointment over the low-level preparedness of the state government and the present status of medical department, the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) said it was worried about the lack of personal protection equipment for doctors and nurses in the state besides scientific testing laboratory, ventilators, tools and kits.

In a press release, ASTD president L Wati Jamir said that though various precautionary measures have been issued, the state government should rapidly procure medical supplies.

Further, ASTD opined that the health minister should take charge of the entire system and monitor the effective implementation so as to prevent and control possible speared of COVID-19.

It also stated that the state government besides ensuring strict implementation of lockdown must look into the plight of downtrodden families that solely depend on daily wage earnings.

ASTD suggested that government initiate distribution of essential commodities and other basic needs besides providing medical aids etc so that no one dies of starvation.
