ASTK celebrates 50 years

Ao Senso Telongjem Kiphire (ASTK) celebrated golden jubilee under the theme “Reawake” at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire on October 24. 

The celebration was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire Sarita Yadav, as guest of honour.

According to DIPR, the guest of honour in her speech called upon the Ao Senso Telongjem Kiphire to continuously work for the upliftment of the Ao society as well as for the Kiphire district.

Short speeches were also delivered by T.Seopi Sangtam president USLB, Lisecho Sangtam and vice president Ao Senden which was followed by the release of the souvenir by the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Dr.N. Moa Jamir stated that during the past 50 years, the pioneers of Aos have worked hard in different parts of Nagaland in various fields even in the political movement. 

He encouraged the gathering to follow the footsteps of the pioneers and urged them to preserve the rich cultural practices and work hard by leading an exemplary life. He stated that parents should play an important role in the family by giving proper guidance and support to the children. 

He further called upon the youngsters not to focus only on the government sector but take up entrepreneurship for their own livelihood.

The programme was chaired by Ao Senso Telongjem Kiphire, president, Lanuchuba Jamir, later Aotsur Telongjem Kiphire presented a traditional song while a special song was presented by Liochum V. Sangtam.
