The Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) has expressed its support for the demands of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU).

In a press release issued by ASUD president, Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary, Moayanger Jamir, the union stated that it stood in full support of the student community and genuine concerns voiced by the ANCSU, and said it expected a permanent settlement on all pending issues. It also added that “higher education is of paramount importance and when problems such as land encroachment and scholarship delays exist, the educational needs of the student community are compromised to a great extent.”

The ASUD, in its release stated that it also hoped that the state government would not only provide verbal assurances but also bring into existence an effective mechanism so that the current problems do not surface in future.

Meanwhile, it has requested all business establishments along Tajen Ao Road in Dimapur, to replace the old name ‘Circular Road’ on their signboards with ‘Tajen Ao Road.’

ASUD said that ever since the change in nomenclature in 2016, some shops were still using the old address and has requested store owners and shopkeepers to make the necessary changes at the earliest.
