ATMA Ahthibung block conducts trg and demo

ATMA Peren, Ahthibung block conducted training and demonstration on September 24 and 25 at Songlhuh and Old Chalkot villages.

A press release by ATMA Ahthibung block stated that the trainings were conducted based on needs of farmers. ATM Dr. Kekeipeu Nza, who trained farmers stated that piggery and poultry farming were the most potential source of meat production in the state. He encouraged farmers to take this up seriously as it generates income and employment.
He stressed on feeding of balanced feeds that were readily available in the market as traditional feeds like fodders and kitchen wastes could not provide adequate nutrition to the growth rate and well being of the livestock.
ATM Lireni Lotha, trained farmers on management practices and suggested farmers to maintain proper drainage system and recommended to go for certified seeds for good yield.
She also conducted a step by step demonstration on preparation of nursery bed and line sowing of winter vegetables to avoid pest infestations and for better yielding of the crops.
Meanwhile on September 25, training and demonstration programme was organised at Old Chalkot village wherein farmers were trained on cultural practices of broccoli and radish.
ATM Keneingunuo Sorhie highlighted the importance of the two vegetables and trained farmers on nursery bed preparation, crop spacing, drainage provision and pest and disease management. Altogether 30 farmers attended the programmes and seeds of winter vegetables were distributed to all the farmer trainees.
