ATMA conducts FLD program

Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) 
Dimapur, Niuland Block in collaboration with AICRP, SASRD, NU Medziphema conducted a Frontline Demonstration (FLD) program on June 29, at Niuland town on the topic “Cultivation methods of Pigeon pea (Cajanuscajan)” with scientist, AICRP, SASRD Dr. Lawrence Kithan, as resource person. 
In a press release, ATMA Dimapur Nzamo Kikon reported that the resource person in his speech said pigeon pea was widely grown as a rain-fed crop but with availability of irrigation, it can be grown in the rabi season. He also explained the details of cultivating the crop. The women farmers were given pigeon pea seeds of UPAS 120 variety.
Later at Hovukhu village, scientist, AICRP, SASRD, Dr. Engrala Ao, demonstrated line sowing of Soyabean to SHG members. Soyabean seeds of JS 335 variety were distributed to the farmers. 
BTM Niuland block Demalu Hasnusa, stated that demonstration plots of 1 Bigha were set up in the two villages, where various seasonal crops will be grown using new technologies to motivate and encourage farmers. Suitable crop rotations will be done in the demonstration plots to maintain soil fertility. Technical guidance and various inputs will be provided by ATMA together with Agri and allied departments.
