ATMA conducts various activities for farmers across Nagaland

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) has been conducting various welfare activities for the farmers of the state through trainings and demonstrations. 

ATMA Chuchuyimlang block: ATMA Mokokchung, Chuchuyimlang block, conducted one-day demonstration-cum-promotion of food security group and demonstration-cum-group mobilisation on farmers group at Yaongyimti New and Yaongyimti Old villages respectively on October 9. 

A press release from ATMA Chuchuyimlang block stated that, resource person, Nuksunginla Jamir, ATM Kobulong block, elucidated on crop rotation, nursery management and soil fertility management for sustainable crop production. She demonstrated on seed bed preparation and the cultivation of garden pea, cabbage and various winter vegetable crops, while explaining about the critical stages of the crops in both the villages. 

Further, group mobilisation of Thangjem farmers group at Yaongyimti Old village was initiated. Nuksunginla Jamir, ATM also made the group acquainted with register and cash book maintenance, which was later distributed to the group. She explained on the importance of implementation of value added crops and legumes. Various seeds, fertilizers and tools were distributed in both the villages. Programme was chaired by Aolemla, BTM Chuchuyimlang block.

ATMA Ahthibung block: ATMA Peren, Ahthibung block, conducted training on ‘pest and disease management of ginger and chilly’ and demonstration on ‘vermi-composting’ at Saijang Village on August 29. 

A press release from ATMA Athibung block, stated that resource person ATM, Keneingunuo Sorhie, briefed farmers on various possible methods of pest and disease management in Ginger and chilly crop. She stressed on following strict sanitation measures to prevent incidence of pest and disease. 

Further, ATM, Kevingulie, demonstrated methodology for Vermi-compost production. He mentioned the materials required and elaborated farmers on its advantages to crops as nutrient source including the economic benefits of its production. 

Mobilization of farmers group was conducted wherein ATM, Lireni Lotha, spoke on concept of SHGs, also advising farmers group to work sincerely. Proper maintenance of records was encouraged to be eligible to avail financial assistance from banks.

Altogether 14 farmers attended the programme. Ahthibung block also launched piggery farm school at Inbung Village, on August  30 with KVK Peren, Dr. Babhita Devi, as special Guest. Training and demonstration on “Piggery management” was also conducted. On the same day mobilization of farmers group was also conducted.  

ATMA Wokha: ATMA Wokha, in collaboration with Agriclinics and Agri Business Center (AC&ABC), conducted training programme for Food Securities Groups on the September 19, at ATMA training hall, DFO office Wokha.

A press release from ATMA Wokha, stated that Proprietor AC&ABC, Wokha, Amos Odyuo, presented slide show on use of appropriate bio pesticide, bio fertilizer, seeds, application of inorganic inputs and safety precautions in handling pesticides.  He also emphasized on importance and benefits of composting, vermin composting techniques and nutrient management. 

Presentation of packages and practices of various winter vegetables crops such as carrot, raddish, cole crops, pea, palak and coriander, were delivered by BTT Convenor and HI, Y Shanchobeni Humtsoe, DPD, T Subenthung Yanthan, ATM, Lothngbeni Murry and ATM, Lily Tungoe respectively. 

It also stated that the programme was chaired by Project Director ATMA and DHO, Wokha, Memedshiba, where he encouraged FSG’s, while DPD, Yanglen Y Jami delivered programme highlights and informed about their activities to be undertaken. 

The programme ended with distribution of winter vegetables seeds, tools and implements and organic fertilizers and insecticides to all seven FSG’s. The programme was attended by 14 FSG farmers, along with 18 ATMA functionaries.
