ATMA conducts various farming activities

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) has been conducting various trainings, demonstrations, workshops and meetings for the benefit of the famers across the state.

ATMA Sechü-Zubza block: ATMA Sechü-Zubza block conducted field visit-cum-kisan goshti at Mezoma on June 1, attended by members of FIGs and SHGs from the village, farmer’s friend from different villages within the block along with the ATMA functionaries. 

A press release from ATMA Sechü-Zubza block stated that, farmers awareness programme was followed by a demonstration on Arhar (UPAS-120 variety).

Earlier, BTM Kajini Isabella Zinyü highlighted the purpose of conducting kisan goshti, while ATM Keviravono Visa explained the objectives and roles of the FIGs. During the demonstration, ATM Ketsivino Nakhro demonstrated seed bed preparation for Arhar using wing furrow-ridge system of bedding method.

Altogether 27 participants attended the event.

ATMA Tuensang: ATMA Tuensang Sangsangnyu block organized training, demonstration programmes and BFAC meeting on June 5 and 6, at Tuensang Hq. 

BTT member Wongto Chingmak A.O (Agriculture) conducted training-cum- awareness on Fall Army Worm (FAW) in maize. He equipped the farmers on the knowledge and process on how the pest infects the crops and management techniques. 

Practical demonstration on application of Neem oil and other local remedies was also shown. Farmers were advised to go for chemical measures only when organic management was not an option.

ATM Sangsangnyu block, Asungla demonstrated on the steps involved in cultivation of Mushroom and various necessary measures to be followed.  BFAC meeting was also conducted and a new Food Security Group (FSG) named Cadamba FSG was mobilized with ten members. 

Neem oil and spawns were distributed to the participants. Altogether 25 farmers attended the programme.

ATMA Longleng: ATMA Longleng organised within district farmers training for progressive women farmers from all the blocks of the district on June 1. 

A press release from PD ATMA & DSO Ngangshimey stated that, resource person for the training programme Namei SRF KVK Longleng spoke on the topic “Zero budget natural farming”. He explained that Nagaland being organic by default can easily adopt zero budget natural farming which uses the natural resources and inputs available in the field itself. He encouraged the farmers to make composting units in their fields where plant products and debris can be converted to manures within a short period of time.

Farmers were also advised to advocate on-field integrated nutrient management (INM) with the available resources in the field. Altogether 45 farmers participated in the training programme.

ATMA Wokha: ATMA Wokha, Sanis block on May 30 conducted one day training on “awareness and management of fall army worm” at Meshangphen.

A press release by ATMA Wokha stated that the training was conducted by ATM, ATMA Sanis block, Lothungbeni Murry, who briefed the trainees on fall army worm and gave detailed information regarding monitoring and scouting of the pest.

The Package and Practices (POP) for the management of Fall Army Worm (FAW) prepared by ICAR was followed during the training. 

Later, application of 5% NSKE was demonstrated on the infested plants during a field visit to one of the infested field.
