ATMA inaugurates farm schools

ATMA, Kobulong block, Mokokchung inaugurated a farm school on banana at Mangkolong, Mopungchuket village on July 17. 
A press release from ATMA Kobulong block stated that Tsukjemzulu whose farm spreads over two hectare was appointed as the farm school teacher.
Nuksunginla Jamir (ATM) delivered the concept and operationalization of farm school. Training on improved agronomic practices on banana production was also conducted, where resource person Mapusenla horticulture extension assistant covered wide range of topics from selection of planting material to harvesting, pest and diseases of banana and its management. She encouraged the farmers on using tissue culture plants for planting because of its many advantages and also emphasized on biological control of pest and disease. Altogether 20 farmers attended the programme.
ATMA Bhandari: An inaugural program for a Fishery farm school was organized by ATMA Bhandari Block, on July 9 at Bhandari village in the presence of D.S.C.O, Wokha, Litemo Murry.
A press release from ATMA Bhandari Block, SDO (Sc) & BTT convener, Chumbeni Odyuo stated that in her welcome speech, she shared on the ongoing fish import problems, disadvantages of eating inorganic fish and advantages of eating organic fish.
D.S.C.O, Wokha, Litemo Murry also shared on the experiences of other fish farmers who use locally available resources like tapioca for rearing organic fish.
The farm school teacher and owner of the farm school, Nchumbemo Odyuo shared from his experiences of fish rearing.
The program ended with a remark from the chairperson who encouraged the participants to take up organic fish rearing on a commercial scale so that import of inorganic and treated fish could be stopped and replaced by healthy organic fish. The program was sponsored by ATMA, Wokha.
